Increased Work HoursInternational students can now work up to 24 hours per week during term time, balancing work opportunities with academic focus.
Eligibility:Â Must be enrolled full-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate program lasting at least 6 months.
Break Periods:Â Students can work full-time during school breaks (e.g., summer or winter holidays).
Institution Reporting Requirements:Â Designated learning institutions must report to IRCC twice a year to confirm student registration.
Change of School/ProgramAs of November 8, 2024, students changing their designated learning institution (DLI) must apply for a new study permit.
Before November 8, 2024:Â Students could change institutions with an online update.
After November 8, 2024:Â A new study permit application is required for school changes, even if the student already holds a study visa.
